Locations |
The Upper Mantle is a location below the Infernal Base which leads the player deep into the earth's crust as they attempt to retrieve the Magma Stone. As the player proceeds deeper into the earth, the game designates the lower areas as the Deep Mantle. Once the player reaches Groudon, the game will register the area as the Deep Mantle starting in the second room of B3F. The third room of B3F is listed in the game as the Outer Core.
Walkthrough
- Follow the path through the first room after exiting the waterfall of lava.
- Jump down any of the holes at the end of the path. It is not possible to get all of the items down each of these holes without going back to the beginning using an Escape Rope, but none of the items are required in order to progress in this area.
- After falling down the first hole, search around the area on B1F for a bit before falling down another hole to B2F.
- Follow the path on B2F and jump down the hole leading down to B3F.
- The Upper Mantle on B3F is dimly lit; using the Flashlight is advised. Explore the area as desired but head northeast to enter the Deep Mantle.
- The Deep Mantle presents the player with a puzzle which requires the use of both Tesseract and Heart Swap in order to solve it.
- Use Tesseract near the white rift to the northwest of the entrance.
- Head northeast to navigate across both sets of stairs and then travel southeast to locate a Manaphy statue.
- Use Heart Swap to move the Manaphy statue one tile above where the player is able to walk in between the two sets of stairs.
- Return to the Tesseract rift and return to the present time.
- Travel northeast and walk across the sets of the stairs now that the flow of lava has been halted.
- Continue east until the player is confronted with a boulder puzzle.
- Move the second rightmost boulder as far up as possible.
- Push the boulder directly beside the previous boulder upward.
- Turn left and push this next boulder to the left.
- Turn upward and push the next boulder upward.
- Turn left and push the next boulder to the left.
- Turn upward and push the next boulder as far upward as desired.
- Enter the Outer Core of B3F.
- The player finds the Magma Stone in the northern part of this new area. As soon as the Magma Stone is obtained, Groudon is awakened and appears before the player.
- After battling Groudon as desired, use an Escape Rope or Dig to return to the Infernal Dungeon in front of the waterfall of lava; it is not possible to leave this area otherwise. An Escape Rope should spawn if none are in your bag.
