Taen is a member of Perfection and Reukra's right-hand man in Pokémon Insurgence.

In the game

Taen first appears in the game as Harmony attempts to convince Orion to leave the Suntouched Gym by flying into the gym on his Kyurem. Once he lands, he explains that he only came to take Orion's white rock away from him. After slapping Orion, the white rock appears to awaken as Taen explains that he knew that the rock was actually Reshiram all along. He then goes on to explain the origin of Kyurem and Reshiram before leaving with Kyurem to pursue the fleeing Reshiram. Despite not interacting with the player at all during this scene, he appears to take note of their presence as he recognizes them later on.

The player's next encounter with Taen is inside of the Perfection Base. Here, Taen attempts to force both the player and Damian out of the base before Reukra interrupts him by explaining Perfection's interest in Mega Evolution. He then has the player battle Taen in order to see if they're worthy of being given a Mega Ring. After Taen has been defeated, he silently allows the player and Damian to leave as he returns to assisting Reukra.

Taen next appears with Reukra in the basement of the hospital in Sonata Hills. He only acts as support for Reukra until Harmony agrees to give Reukra access to her father, Malde.

In Kepler City, Taen commissions Anastasia to create a set of armor that will boost Zekrom's defenses and make it much more powerful. Reshiram appears shortly after, drawn by Zekrom, and is commanded by Orion to battle Zekrom in the hopes that they can defeat Zekrom and free it from Taen's control. However, the armor makes Zekrom too much for Reshiram to handle and Reshiram falls into Taen's hands, who heads off to the Dragon Ruins with his prize.

At the Dragon Ruins, the player is joined by Nora as they witness Taen attempt to resurrect the Original Dragon by fusing together Zekrom, Reshiram, and Kyurem. However, this proves to be a failure as Taen does not know the name of the Original Dragon needed to complete the procedure. Angered by his failure, Taen takes on both Nora and the player in a double battle. Once defeated, Reshiram and Zekrom are freed as Taen vows to take revenge on the pair that defeated him.

Sometime later Orion informs the player that Taen is going to try to summon the Original Dragon once again. At the Perfection Base after beating Gail, she informs the player that Taen is located in No Man's Land, using her Zygarde to watch him. The player tracks Taen to the Alpha Temple, where he has already acquired the flute artifact he was looking for. After losing to the player again, Taen steals several books from the Utira Library on Unova language structure to summon the Original Dragon at the Dragon Ruins using its original name.

Taen's is found at the Dragon Ruins, where he is surrounded by Zygarde cells summoned by Gail. The summoning for the Original Dragon has already begun. Gail enlists the assistance of the player as they attempt to stall and stop Taen from completing the ritual. Taen has a crystalized Pokémon, acquired after a visit to the Kuria Region. Though the tag-battle versus Taen fails to stop him from summoning the Original Dragon, the battle does buy enough time for Gail to summon Zygarde in its Complete Forme moments before Taen succeeds and interrupt the ritual. Gail loses her ability to control Zygarde as it continues on to easily defeat Taen's Mewtwo and Zekrom. The player then interferes to stop Zygarde from harming Reshiram, leaving Taen shocked at what he just witnessed.

Taen tired of dealing with the player and having his plans ruined, has decided to leave Torren for the Kuria region. Finally, Taen is seen at the Perfection Base talking to Reukra. Taen gives Reukra the flute artifact he used for summoning the Original Dragon, unaware of what its true purpose is. With all his business finished, Taen leaves with Team Vitreus benefactor, Almand, for the Kuria Region, never to be seen again.
