Ethereal Shroud is an ability exclusive to Pokémon Insurgence. It is the signature Ability of Mega Gothitelle.
Effect
Ethereal Shroud causes the user to gain a defensive Ghost typing, effectively giving them three defensive types in the event that the user already possesses a primary type and a secondary type. Ethereal Shroud does not give Ghost-type moves a damage increase via same-type attack bonus.
Pokémon with the Abilities Scrappy, Mold Breaker, Teravolt, or Turboblaze are able to bypass Ethereal Shroud using Fighting and Normal-type moves. Using Foresight or Odor Sleuth also allows Fighting and Normal-type moves to bypass Ethereal Shroud.
Outside of battle
Ethereal Shroud has no effect outside of battle.
