In the game there are a multitude of book entries. These books detail the history and circumstances of Torren, and therefore give a better understanding of the game.

On this page these entries are categorized by order of location.

Cult of Darkrai

1. The Cults of the Torren Region

"As far back as written history goes, the Torren Region has been plagued by gang violence by a number of cults. All of these cults worship a legendary Pokémon, in much the same way one would revere a god. These cults have been known for killing and torturing people who disagree with their ideals. While different cults will rise and fall, it is worth knowing which cults currently hold power. There are five cults currently in power. The Cult of Darkrai, Abyssal Cult, Infernal Cult, Sky Cult, and a group simply called "Perfection". All of these cults are extremely dangerous and should be treated with extreme caution."

2. The Cult of Darkrai

"The Cult of Darkrai is led a woman named Persephone. Like most other cults in the region they have made it their goal to summon Darkrai from a different world. Most of her reasons for trying to call Darkrai are unknown, but she is suspected to have sadistic tendencies due to events in her childhood."

3. The Kalos War

"The Aroma-Kalos War was a war between the Kalos and Aroma regions. It is renowned for the first interregion war that involved the use of Pokémon as fighting tools.Kalos eventually won the war by use of what was basically nuclear weaponry, an "ultimate weapon" charged by a legendary Pokémon."

1. The History of the Cults

"The first cults of the Torren Region were created hundreds of years ago. The first two cults of the Torren Region were the Time Cult, who were worshippers of the legendary Pokémon Dialga, and Infernal, who are worshippers of Groudon. Soon, the Time Cult left for another region, and the Infernal Cult inspired many other cults to take form. There were around 10 Cults in existence before the First Augur came. The Augur fought and defeated five of the different cults, and was on his way to defeating more before he mysteriously disappeared. Now, only five cults remain: Perfection, the Cult of Darkrai, Infernal, Abyssal and Sky Cult."

2. What is a legendary Pokémon?

"A legendary Pokémon is a Pokémon that is extremely rare and powerful. There are several criteria that a Pokémon must follow if they are to be considered a legendary. First of all, they are unique. They are one of a kind, or in some rare exceptions two or three of a kind. Secondly, they are unable to be bred to create more of them. For example, Manaphy is still considered a legendary even though it can be bred into Phione, because it cannot be bred into more Manaphy. Finally they must not be able to evolve. Often, legendary Pokémon are so rare and powerful that they are worshipped as gods."

3. Who is the Second Augur?

"The Second Augur is a beautiful and ruggedly handsome trainer. He is the only one who is currently saving the world from the cults and he is the hero of everyone in the region. He is incredible, and he is the hero we deserve."

Midna Town

1. The Kanto Civil War Vol. 1

The Kanto War occurred several decades ago. Civil unrest in Kanto was high due to several of the Gym Leaders and Elite Four members taking part in criminal activity. Most notably were Agatha, Madeleine and Giovanni. Madeleine was arrested, defeated by a member of the Kanto army named Surge, who accepted the offer to replace her position as Gym Leader. Agatha was pardoned, however, her relationships with former friends such as Oak were strained. Continued in Vol. 2.

2. The Kanto Civil War Vol. 2

Giovanni, the leader of the criminal organization known as Rocket, was never reprimanded until several years later. A child named Red, son of a soldier lost in the war, linked Giovanni to the unknown leader position and defeated him. He was promptly arrested, and a list of connections were discovered. Many changes were made to the Indigo League after that incident, however- aside from the needless death- most people believe the Kanto Civil War was a necessary part of the development of the region.

Suntouched City

1. Before Human Society

Before human society, it is widely theorized that the true formes of fossil Pokémon roamed the planet. For example, many believe that Kabutops was originally a Bug/Water-type. By using carbon dating, scientists have placed the extinction of the majority of the species to the time humans began to emerge. The reason so many species could die out at once is currently unknown. Several groups have begin to research into possible causes in the Vesryn region and have pledged to share their research when a potential conclusion is reached.

2. The First Augur

3. Hoopa

Hoopa is a small legendary Pokémon known as a "Pixie Legendary." It is unique in that it is able to change into a stronger, Djinn-based form using a special item. It is able to create small wormholes to anywhere in the world, by using the power of its ring. It was the partner Pokémon of the First Augur. Many people believe that Hoopa brought powerful Pokémon in from other dimensions, and is the only way of accessing hidden interdimensional space.

4. Pre-Poké Balls Poké Balls

Studies have shown that ancient tribes used different methods of catching Pokémon. Back in the days before regions were formed (feudal lords), Pokémon were captured using sticks and nets. This obviously made capturing of Pokémon such as Magcargo nearly impossible. Historians widely believe that the beginning of the technological era began with people brainstorming ways to capture Pokémon. Certain groups were able to replicate the effects of the "minimize" move and apply it to large coconuts in order to fit Pokémon inside. The technology gradually progressed, and eventually Poké Balls as we know them today were created.

5. New Moon

New Moon is a recently discovered weather condition that is similar in effect to Sunny Day. It blocks out the sun and creates a night similar to a moonless night- pure blackness. It increases the strength of Dark- and Ghost-type moves, and the move Lunar Cannon needs only one turn to charge, instead of two. It also reduces the damage done by Fairy-type moves, and also triggers certain abilities such as Shadow Dance and Absolution. On the whole, it is a very potent and terrifying weather condition, but is currently unused due to its recent discovery.

6. The Tragic Death of Steven Stone

Steven Stone was a world-reknowned collector and archeologist. He was most well known for his discovery of the Metagrossite and his time as Champion as the Hoenn region. Several years ago, when the first cults began to emerge in the Torren Region, Steven as well as several other world heroes were called upon for help. However, Steven was killed in a freak accident. An almost comic swap happened where the Metagrossite was held by Steven, and the Key Stone used to Mega Evolve the Metagross was held by the Metagross. Steven Mega-Evolved, but died shortly after. Fortunately, he was able to take some cultists with him.

Metchi Town

1. The Infernal Cult

The Infernal Cult was the very first cult ever created. They primarily specialize in Fire-types, and primarily worship Heatran and Groudon. Their reasons are currently unknown. It is, however, known, that the Infernal Cult primarily operates in the northern end of the Torren Region. The Infernal Cult is infamous for its use of children in the cult. There are many separate cases of them kidnapping children from their parents, and those children reemerging months later to kidnap other children. Their leader, Zenith, faces assault charges in thousands of different areas.

2. The Nightmare Realm

The Nightmare Realm is a location particularly associated with Darkrai. Millions of different Nightmare Realms exist- one for each human being. The Nightmare Realm is entered when someone begins to dream in the presence of Darkrai. Darkrai has absolute control over this realm, and though it remains unproven, many rumors state that if you are harmed in the Nightmare Realm, your wounds will carry over to reality.

4. The Cubone-Kangaskhan Relationship

Cubone are always wearing the skulls of their deceased mothers. However, the question remains: what is a Cubone before its mother dies? The answer is Kangaskhan. Cubone is a baby Kangaskhan whose mother has died. When Cubone puts on the skull of its mother, it becomes a different species of Pokemon (through methods unknown). This is also likely the reason Mega Kangaskhan and Mega Marowak share the same ability- Parental Bond. In one case, the child fights with the mother, and in the other, the mother fights with the child.

5. Secret Bases

The creation of a Secret Base is the primary source of income for Metchi Town. Any person living in the region is able to talk to someone to purchase them. The most interesting thing is how everyone is able to access a base from any Pokémon Center. It is widely believed that the Secret Base Manager once communicated with Hoopa, Palkia or another extradimensional Pokémon to allow this to happen.

6. Pokémon World Tournament

The Pokémon World Tournament is a world-class tournament that moves around the world every decade. It has existed in many prominent locations, such as Unova, Orre and Salkra. The next location for the Pokemon World Tournament will be the Torren Region, however, that location is still undergoing development. The Pokémon World Tournament is famous for hiring a variety of well-known trainers for people to battle against. Trainers such as Steven, Blaine, Cynthia and even the legendary Red have all made appearances at the tournament. However, due to a lack of prominent trainers in the last decades, the tournament has fallen into disrepair. Many Torren inhabitants have stated they've made it their goal to bring it back to its former glory.
